TO THE LOYAL TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE PALM DESERT SENIOR CUP:
TWO OF THE BEST HAVE BECOME ONE OF THE BEST

After 17 years of operating the Palm Desert Senior Cup it is become apparent that the event must look for a new direction to stay fresh and enjoyable to the hundreds of players that come down to play in this quality senior tennis tournament.

As the event has grown and this senior becomes more senior, our small staff of volunteers has to take on more and more responsibilities each year… a difficult task.  My options were to disband the event or find someone with whom to partner.

Enter the BNP Paribas Open.  We have agreed to partner-up in order to continue to grow this event.  Stacy and I will still manage the tournament.

Our new name is BNP Paribas Open Senior Cup.

The BNP Paribas Open is the most attended professional tennis tournament in the world outside of the Grand Slams.  It is one of the few major tennis events combining both men and women over a two-week period. It is held each year in March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, a state-of-the-art facility boasting a 16,000 seat stadium. It is the second largest tennis stadium

The BNP Paribas Open Senior Cup is a seniors (50 and over) super senior (65 and over) team doubles tennis tournament for men and women.

Teams consist of six players plus substitutes. A minimum of seven (7) players are required on the roster for each team.  Players enter as a team, not as individuals.

OUR NEW NAME:

BNP PARIBAS OPEN SENIOR CUP

(Previously THE PALM DESERT SENIOR CUP)
in the world – centerpiece of one of the world’s most beautiful venues for watching the top professional tennis players compete.  In 2010, over 335,000 people attended the event.

The Senior Cup will start on Monday after the pro tournament.

The new home will be the Indian Wells Tennis Garden; however the majority of the playing sites will remain the same – Palm Valley CC, The Lakes CC, Marriott’s Desert Springs Resort, Indian Wells Tennis Garden, Monterey CC, Sunrise CC,
Indian Ridge CC, Rancho Las Palmas, Palm Desert Resort, Ironwood CC and Del Webb Sun City.
